The best places to visit in Australia

Friday, June 10, 2016

As the world’s largest island and smallest continent, Australia is widely-known as one of the most naturally beautiful places in the world. Whether you’re a native Australian or new to the country, there are lots of sights to discover and enjoy.

An essential, for any true Australian, is a trip to one of Australia’s national parks. Explore the glittering rainforests of Christmas Island, discover over 6,200 species of plants at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra, or enjoy stunning waterfalls, breathtaking natural gorges and prehistoric Aboriginal rock art at the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory.

If you want to see more of Australia’s great cities instead, Sydney has a lot to offer. Catch a performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House, sunbathe at Bondi Beach or enjoy the views from the Sydney Harbour Bridge on a twilight climbing tour. If you time your visit correctly, you might even be able to take part in one of the city’s annual cultural festivals, or soak up the sunshine at the famous Taronga Zoo.

However, if you’re a fan of water sports, there’s no better place to visit than the Great Barrier Reef, near Queensland. As the world’s largest coral reef system, this natural wonder is home to over 1,500 species of tropical fish, as well as countless islands and beaches. Fans of scuba diving and surfing are well catered-for on all of the islands, but if you don’t want to don a wetsuit, there are plenty of other activities available, including helicopter rides, horseback beach tours and glass-bottomed boat trips.

Just remember, wherever you spend your day, it’s always more fun if you can share it with friends. Stay in touch when you’re out with Lycamobile’s unlimited international text, talk and data plans. Find out more here.
